A towering figure, half seen in the shadows, moving quietly through the bush.
Most stories place him deep in the mountains.
But locals know another truth.
The Yowie follows the water.
Every creek flowing from the hinterland eventually meets the ocean. The legend says the Yowie travels these waterways from the mountain pools to the mangrove flats and out to the bluewater edge.
Fishermen along the coast tell stories of a massive silhouette standing in the shallows at dusk. Some claim they have seen him on rocky headlands watching the swell roll in.
